That’s so unfair! A sentence that one very close friend of mine said, when I told him I will be visiting Luxembourg, on a day when he was leaving for the annual vacation. In these busy times, messages are at least good way to help you stay in touch, and to update them with the thought in mind hey I’m coming to your country, I thought of you. And then I asked for only two tips about things to eat in Luxembourg, but I got plenty of them. So word to word, I am unselfishly giving away my local recommendation list of things to see and try in Luxembourg city. Ah yeah, 23.06 is the national day of the country, bonus lesson.
So it started with the best list:
Best ice-cream in town: Bargello (near train station)
Best terrace for drinks: Gudde Wëllen – this was actually pretty nice, full of happy people and chilled vibes best restaurants.
Bella Ciao (Italian) – the pizzas here were amazing, I had the white one with zucchini.
Les Matelots (food from Bretagne – galettes and crepes)
La Torre or Partigiano (pizza)
Chiche (Middle East)
Kamakura (expensive Japanese)
Mesa Verde (vegan and fish)
Thanhs (Vietnamese, only open at lunch time during the week)
Bistronome (fancy bistrot with gourmet food, affordable menu without drinks)
For brunch: Mudam café (inside of the museum for modern arts, not so far from the European quarter) – went here, the food was more on the vegan side, the setup was even better than the food
,:buvette (rotondes, near train station)
Table du pain – the typical Le Pain de Quotiden, a classic, you can never miss here.
To see: Old town, Ascenseur Panoramique du Paffenthal (glass elevator), Passerelle, Grund, Palais Grand Ducal and Parliament Building, Chemin de la Corniche (nice view to the Neimenster Abbey), Neimenster Abbey, Mudam.

We arrived smoothly at the Luxembourg airport, flights to and from Berlin and London were ultra cheap, so that makes Luxembourg perfect weekend destination. We didn’t know that we will be there for the national holiday, so all the accommodation was a bit pricey, and we decided for ibis Budget at the airport. Somebody would think that is a hassle, but the airport is almost in town, and the public transport is free for every one.

Of course we didn’t manage to eat and drink everything, but we were strictly following the recommendations and I can say that the pizza in Bella Ciao was amazing, I went for the goat lovers. Gudde Wellen terrace had such nice vibe and the drinks were on point too, Mudam Cafe had calming atmosphere and organic + Ayurvedic menu, and the quiche in Table du Pain was great, it is easy when you know the person who is recommending things. Ah the only place that maybe didn’t met my expectations was Bargello ice cream, but my last trip was in Italy, so the standards were on the higher end.
