Trippin: Place in Europe that feels like Africa

Always wanted to visit Africa without the organizing hustle? Well that is as well possible in Europe. And what is best you can combine it with your beach holiday in Croatia or the hiking one in Slovenia. A hop from Venice? No problem. I have visited the Brijuni Island two times. First on a windy day on my 7 Day vacation in Istria, and second time because my best friend wanted Zebra bachelorette, so we’ve organized the whole trip around it..

Brijuni Islands were known as the summer residence of the president of Yugoslavia, Tito. He wanted to create his own little piece of heaven, and brought many animals here. The smaller islands around are now summer residences to some of the most prominent Hollywood celebrities, so no wonder how this piece of land became so popular.

Visiting Brijuni is only possible by taking the ferry from Fazana. The return ferry price is around 27 euros. Once you reach the island you are not obliged to do anything, or to take some excursions, so you can organize your day as you wish. The first time i went there we’ve rented a bicycle and made a circle around the whole island. We made stops to everything of importance on the islands but also enjoyed the beach time. Renting bicycles is charged by the hour, and you pay after return. Same is for golf carts and they are really fun, as well creating great photo memories.

Food wise there is the Napoleon hotel with its restaurant, two out of two times i haven’t eaten anything except their “Hungarian Cake” which brought some childhood memories. The island is amazing there are a lot of activities for kids as well, so it is a perfect day trip idea.

And if you are still hungry for more safari, not far from Pula is the Kamenjak, Premantura cape. Not only is this protected nature area, but it also has some very interesting resting places one of them being Safari Bar. It gives your local Robinson Cruso vibes, it is rustic, every new corner in the maze is a surprise, it has giant swing and sea view.
